Emalee Jones, MA, ALC believes that healing often begins when we slow down in order to reconnect with ourselves through feeling our emotions, recognizing our needs, and appreciating the parts of us that have worked so hard to keep us safe.
She holds a B.S. in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling and works with individuals (14+) navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, divorce, spiritualabuse, faith transitions, body image concerns, and relationship challenges. Her style is warm and collaborative, trauma‐informed, and grounded in curiosity and compassion.
Emalee is trained in S.A.F.E. EMDR, an approach that integrates somatic therapy, mindfulness, attachment theory, and neurobiological regulation that helps clients better understand their past experiences and rebuild a sense of safety and connection. She also has advanced training in EMDR for religious trauma.
She is especially passionate about working with clients who feel disconnected from themselves after painful relational or spiritual experiences. Emalee understands how easily people can internalize blame, question their reality, or feel confused in the midst of difficult relationships – whether those relationships are at home, at work, or within a faith community. She helps clients make sense of these experiences and offers a space where their feelings are valid, their stories matter, and their inner strength is recognized. Her goal is to help clients stop blaming themselves and begin trusting their own inner wisdom again.
Drawing from Attachment Theory, DBT, ACT, psychodynamic, parts work, interpersonal and somatic practices, Emalee supports clients as they process their past, reconnect with their values, and build a life that feels whole and authentic.
When she’s not in session, Emalee enjoys slow mornings, time outdoors, exploring new places, getting swept up in a good book, and singing along to Taylor Swift – which definitely counts as a valid coping skill. Life with her two kids and their adorably-rambuctious Goldendoodle (who’s convinced she’s the third child) is equal parts chaos and joy.
Emalee is an Associate Licensed Counselor in Birmingham, AL under the supervision of Heather Parker, M.Ed, LPC‐S, NCC.
